Understanding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires that certain employers provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specific COVID-19-related reasons. The provisions of the FFCRA become effective on April 1, 2020 and run through December 31, 2020.

Covered employers are required to post a notice beginning April 1, 2020, regarding this act. For information on posting the FFRCA notice, refer to the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) FFCRA Frequently Ask Questions page.

To better understand this law, the DOL has posted information about the FFCRA on their website. This information includes fact sheets, the required notice/poster, and questions and answers.
