The California JPIA’s Risk Management Academy was held in January at the Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort in Indian Wells. The Academy, a two-and-a-half-day training event, is geared toward employees at public agencies who have primary risk management responsibility and manage their agency’s risk exposure. Attendees gained valuable insights on topics including contractual risk transfer, loss history analysis, workers’ compensation, and understanding liability claims.
“The engaging and informative speakers provided me with a lot of new knowledge and pointers to take home to my city,” explained attendee Vanessa Lassooy. “It’s also been a wonderful opportunity to network and bounce off ideas and share experiences with my peers.”
The next Risk Management Academy will be held January 14–16, 2025, in San Diego.
The Authority’s academies are multi-day training seminars which focus on a specific public sector discipline and provide attendees with opportunities to interact with their peers and share real-world challenges and successes.
