The California JPIA’s Elected Officials Summit, held in May, saw 18 elected officials from 14 different public agencies participate in educational sessions designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and practical applications of risk management. Geared toward officials who have been in office for more than two years, the Summit focused on laying the foundation for integrating risk management as a core organizational practice.
The agenda covered a range of topics essential for elected officials. Highlights included navigating social media responsibly, strategies for effective governing, and developing constructive working relationships with fellow elected officials.
The next Summit will be held May 14–16, 2024, with registration opening in early March 2024. For more information about the Elected Officials Summit or the Authority’s academies, visit the Academies page or contact Michelle Aguayo, training coordinator, by email or at (562) 467-8777.
